LOF Studio Policies

*Leap of Faith Arts Ministries is a member-based organization. Our annual membership fee is $25 per student.  Memberships are charged at registration and renewed each fall. Membership fees are non-refundable with the exception of preschool students who are determined to be unready for dance and may receive a credit for the following season.

*Please Note: (Updated due to COVID-19)

There will be times during class in which the instructor may need to assist a dancer through movement. Until further notice teachers will not use physical touch to redirect dancers. Touch may be necessary for select Darby’s Dancers students and will only be approved with parent permission on a case by case basis.

*Rescheduling and Substitution:

Leap of Faith reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the regular teacher is ill or is otherwise unable to teach. Leap of Faith reserves the right to reschedule or combine classes when needed.

*Attendance: (Updated due to COVID-19)

Regular attendance is vital to student progress and group choreography. Please make every effort to attend each class IF YOUR CHILD IS FEELING HEALTHY. If a student is to miss class, please notify their instructor 24 hours in advance, unless there is an illness or emergency. In this case, please call 779.2323.LOF or email the instructor at least 30 minutes prior to class. Students may make up 1 missed lesson per semester in person.

* PLEASE KEEP YOUR CHILD HOME IF THEY ARE EXPERIENCING A FEVER, COUGH, DIGESTIVE DISTRESS OR COLD SYMPTOMS. If a student is feeling unwell they may log on to their class via Zoom from home and will NOT be counted absent. Thank you for respecting the health and safety of our students and staff.

*If a student misses more than 2 of the final 8 classes before the recital (they may participate via Zoom if they are feeling unwell and will NOT be counted absent), they may be dismissed from participating in the recital routine at the discretion of the instructor. Shining Lights Dancers have additional attendance policies. Please see your handbook for more information. THIS ATTENDANCE POLICY IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE BASED ON STATE AND NATIONAL COVID-19 RECOMMENDATIONS.

Safety:

*(Updated due to COVID-19) Please carefully review our safety guidelines.

Parents/Guardians should walk their child to the front door of the studio and pick them up at the back door of the studio when they are done with classes.

Parents/Guardians need to tell the instructor in advance if someone other than themselves will be dropping off or picking up the dancer.

Parents/Guardians need to be punctual when arriving to pick up their child. Instructors and desk staff have prior obligations and commitments and cannot take on the responsibility of looking after a child and waiting until a parent/guardian arrives.

*(Updated due to COVID-19) Now more than ever it is essential that we do not have students waiting for extended periods of time in the lobby. To reduce close contact between students, all dancers must be picked up promptly at the back door of the studio as soon as their classes end. Thank you for your understanding.

*Students with medical issues may be required to provide a note from their doctor releasing them to participate in dance as well as provide an action plan to the Leap of Faith staff in case of emergency.

*Discipline:

Leap of Faith is an active advocate of safety, quality, and care. Students who choose to exhibit behavior that is disrespectful, unsafe, or harmful will be asked to take a break and observe class. If the behavior worsens, the student will be asked to leave the class, and his or her parents will be called. If the situation becomes uncontrollable, the student's parents will be called and asked to immediately pick up the student (in a case like this, the student may be told that he/she can no longer attend class). Leap of Faith hopes that these incidents will never arise; however, to provide the best quality education and ensure safety for all students, this policy is necessary.

*Lost and Found: (Updated due to COVID-19)

To follow best safety and cleaning practices and to avoid the mixing of multiple students’ personal items, we will NOT be keeping a combined Lost and Found bin at the studio. Leap of Faith will keep forgotten items for three weeks. We will post pictures of the items on Slack and in the email update. After three weeks if the items are not claimed, we will donate the items.

Lobby Etiquette:

*(Updated due to COVID-19) Until further notice we will have a closed lobby except for allowing one parent of students 6 years old and younger.

*If you are in the lobby with your young dancer, to make sure that our students are focused in the studios, please keep conversations at a respectful volume. Please also make sure to wear your face covering over your mouth and nose and physically distance yourself from others to show respect to all our clients and staff.

*Please do not bring food into the lobby at this time. Parents of young dancers may bring their own drink into the lobby; however, please make sure to take it with you when you leave or dispose of it properly.

Dress Code:

*Leap of Faith's dress code is designed to ensure an educational and safe environment as well as to promote modesty. Dancer's hair must be pulled back at all times. If hair is not pulled back, it can interfere with the dancer's line of vision. Jeans are not to be worn in any discipline. Dancers should wear a solid-colored leotard, tights (pink tights for ballet classes) and either a dance skirt, fitted capri or jazz pants or longer shorts to all dance classes. Short shorts and other immodest dance-wear is not acceptable and will result in parents being called to bring appropriate dance-wear to the studio. Dancers should have their hair pulled back neatly and secured in place with bobby pins and hairspray.

*When arriving or leaving the studio, it is expected that all students wear a cover-up of some sort. This may be a pair of pants, dress, sweater, sweatshirt, etc. Students should not wear dance-wear outside of the classroom without putting on street clothes over their leotard and tights.

Theater/Acting Dress Code:

*Dress in comfortable attire. We recommend wearing either jazz or yoga pants and a comfortable tank or tee. Boys can wear gym shorts or sweatpants and a tee. No jeans please, as students need to move around during class. Students may attend class in stocking feet. There is no shoe required for acting classes, but if students prefer to wear shoes, they must wear clean tennis shoes to protect our dance floor.

Dance Shoes and Dance-wear:

*Leap of Faith is proud to partner with Discount Dance Supply for your dance shoes and dance- wear!  To order, please go to www.discountdance.com and use the Teacher Code 37848.  Discount Dance will make a donation to Leap of Faith on your behalf when you use this code!
